Occoquan Boat Club offers recreational and competitive rowing on Northern Virginia’s scenic Occoquan Reservoir. The club hosts summer and fall regattas and supports youth rowing in the area. OBC welcomes new members! Explore the website to learn more about our club!
OBC was founded in 1979 to recruit members interested in rowing, sponsor crew races, send teams to regattas, and generally support rowing in Northern Virginia. Club members have access to an enviable fleet of race-worthy singles, doubles/pairs and quads/straight four shells, for some of the most reasonable membership fees of any club in the area. Rowers of all ages join the club for recreation as well as competition.
The club’s fleet is housed at Sandy Run Regional Park on the Occoquan Reservoir, which boasts some of the best rowing conditions in the mid Atlantic region. Members often gather to perform race pieces or have recreational outings, and opportunities for sculling instruction are offered by experienced coaches in the area.
Each year OBC sponsors two highly regarded regattas: the Occoquan Memorial Sprints (OMS) held in late June or early July and the Head of the Occoquan (HOTO) held in early November.
